DTE crews were recently working at the intersection of East Warren and 3 Mile Drive in Detroit to upgrade cross arms on a power pole from wood to fire-resistant fiberglass. This important upgrade is necessary to secure the equipment on the pole against strong winds, ensuring safety and reliability for customers.

The old, wooden crossarms had served their purpose for many years, but over time, they had become weakened and were at risk of breaking during high winds. Fiberglass cross arms are specifically designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, including strong winds, and provide an added level of safety for the power supply. Our team completed the upgrade with minimal disruption to the power supply to the surrounding community.

At DTE Energy, we take our commitment to safe and reliable power seriously. This upgrade is just one example of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve our infrastructure, so we can continue to provide the residents of Detroit with the safe, reliable power they need.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in the short and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the Wayne County community page to learn more about what is going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
