Our crews are continuing the process of transferring Detroit’s power source from Public Lighting Department (PLD) to DTE Energy. With this switch, DTE is making upgrades to the electric system, rather than using existing PLD equipment. Recently, our team installed new cabling, near John R and East Kirby Streets, to power the Detroit Institute of Arts. They are pictured above connecting the cabling to an unenergized electric cabinet. In the near future, DTE crews will return to safely energize the cabinet, improving reliability for the museum.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the Detroit – District 6 community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
