Did you know tree trimmers are vital in helping keep your electricity running smoothly and safely? If tree limbs are left too close to power lines, they can get tangled with electric wires during extreme weather. This may cause power disruptions and unsafe conditions for pedestrians. Recently, our crews removed overgrown branches along multiple Detroit properties in the Grandmont neighborhood, near Archdale Street and Acacia Avenue. This work helps to improve electric reliability for the entire neighborhood.
All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.
Highlights include:
- Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall

- Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone
