Our crews are continuing their work of transferring Detroit’s power source from the Public Lighting Department (PLD) to DTE Energy. During this process, DTE is taking steps to improve reliability. Recently, our team installed five new underground cables while upgrading pedestrian lighting near East Canfield and John R Streets. One cable will even act as an “extra” energy source, giving Detroiters’ a back-up method to receive power if any issues occur with the other four cables.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short and long term.
