Our underground and overhead crews were in Oak Park last week restoring power to a neighborhood after a power line failure. The lines that lead to the utility pole that feeds the neighborhood in this area are underground, which means the electricity is distributed underground from a nearby substation.

This is especially complicated work since there are three lines that run underground, which we call phases, that connect to the station. For them to work properly, each phase needs to be aligned properly without crossing over one another. Our crews safely and efficiently performed the work and made sure the lines running up the pole were distributing reliable power to nearby customers.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Oak Park community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
