Tree trimmers were in Detroit’s Grandmont neighborhood recently, near Acacia Avenue and Rutland Street, working to improve your electrical reliability. Our team safely operated a bucket truck (pictured above) to access and trim those high overhanging branches. These are branches that may interfere with DTE’s overhead power lines during storms. This is the type of work that helps keep your power flowing regardless of extreme weather conditions.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
