In 2020, DTE announced its goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 to create a clean energy future for Michigan.
But we couldn’t just flip a switch and move all our energy production to renewable sources like solar and wind power. We created MIGreenPower to enable homes and businesses across the state to allocate their energy usage to renewable sources and support new clean energy developments.
The more they allocate, the more solar and wind projects we are able to build, moving us toward our net zero goal.
Here’s how it works:
At DTE’s MIGreenPower website, you can select how much of your energy use you want to allocate to renewable sources. You can choose a flat dollar amount or a percentage of your usage, whichever works best for your budget. Your participation will directly help DTE create new renewable energy developments throughout the state.
In addition to the environmental impact, your commitment will also help local economies through job creation and tax revenues for host communities.
That means even a $1 contribution from MIGreenPower customers can directly impact schools, first responders, and road repair, enhancing and strengthening communities statewide, all while helping us create more clean energy and moving us closer to our goal of net zero carbon emissions.
