As a part of DTE Energy’s commitment to building a stronger grid, our crews were in Van Buren Township recently, busy upgrading our current infrastructure.

Specifically, at the corner of Ecorse Road and Haggerty Road, crews were making upgrades to the overhead and underground equipment in the area. That included tying in our underground cable to our overhead equipment. This will increase the reliability in the area as all our equipment in the area will then work in tandem to ensure the most consistent service we can provide. These upgrades will greatly improve the performance in the area, especially during extreme weather situations.

Upgrading infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and enhancing grid resilience. DTE is modernizing its equipment to meet future energy needs, ensuring reliable and consistent service for its customers.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
