DTE Energy is laser focused on building a stronger electric grid; to do so, our crews are in the field every day, inspecting key pieces of our infrastructure that might need to be upgraded. This could mean upgrading just one power pole, or it could mean pole removals and replacements for an entire neighborhood.

In this case, at the corner of Stellwagen Street and Newberry Street in Wayne, work continued as part of a bigger project in the neighborhood. The project will see new poles, cross arms, connectors, and transformers all installed to provide the area with a boost in electrical reliability. Upon completion of these upgrades, customers in the area can expect to see a better performing grid, especially during extreme weather situations.

Modernizing infrastructure is crucial for reducing outages and strengthening grid resilience. DTE is upgrading its equipment to address future energy demands, providing customers with consistent and reliable service.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
