Every resident deserves to live in a safe and thriving community, and DTE Energy is proud to partner with the City of Monroe to help make this vision a reality. A key focus of this partnership has been the transformation of Monroe’s streetlights to energy-efficient LED technology through the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) grant opportunity.
“Our work with DTE has been crucial in advancing the city’s infrastructure and safety goals,” said Mayor Robert Clark of Monroe. “Together, we are making strides in energy efficiency, reducing emissions and enhancing public safety.”
The transition to LED streetlights has delivered immediate benefits for Monroe. LEDs provide brighter, more reliable lighting that improves visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians alike. Additionally, these lights are more energy efficient, reducing emissions and lowering costs for the city. The new lighting requires less maintenance, which not only reduces long-term expenses but also means fewer disruptions in service – resulting in a noticeable improvement in public satisfaction.
“The new LED lights have made an obvious difference, and the community response has been very positive and pleased with the changes,” said Mayor Clark.
Together, DTE and the City of Monroe are paving the way for a safer and more sustainable future – one that benefits every resident and brings the community closer together. To see what upgrades we’re making in your area, explore our Power Improvements Map.
