DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

As part of this commitment, we are working to make sure our customers in Novi experience fewer and shorter power outages.

One way we will accomplish that is by upgrading our current infrastructure. Crews recently identified equipment along 13 Mile Road at Whistler Drive that needed an upgrade. That means replacing with new, more modern and durable equipment. The crew seen here is decommissioning our equipment and waiting on another crew that will have the new gear installed and ready to reenergize shortly after.

DTE will keep doing this kind of work to not only improve reliability but help with the greater demand for electricity and growing capacity needs coming in the years ahead.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
