Good news, Lyon Township! Our crews were in your community last week improving your service. A team was dispatched to the corner of Silverside and Doane next to Green Oak Lake to upgrade three 100-amp switches known as cutouts. Cutouts act like a fuse and open when there is a problem with the line or a section of it.
The old cutouts were porcelain and replaced with newer model polymer cutouts. Porcelain tends to break over time whereas polymer cutouts are much more sturdy and do not crack as easily. The result is that the upgrade should help prevent reliability issues and ensure you’ll have the power you need, when you need it.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.
