Hello, Rochester Hills! You may have noticed more DTE work being done in your township, and that is because our workers have been spending extra time in your area. Reliability work in the Rochester area has increased drastically compared to this time last year.

The DTE lineman pictured here says, “work in Rochester Hills is going well.” When weather is good and there is little restoration work to be done, a majority of everyday work for field workers is spent upgrading and replacing worn-out utility poles. We’re closely examining all poles in DTE territory to determine what equipment should be updated or upgraded to prevent future outages. “Hopefully by spending more time in these specific areas, we will be more prepared for storms next summer,” says the pictured line worker.

Along with continuous pole replacements, tree trimming is another priority that is being focused on after this year’s storm season. Tree trimmers are always looking for possible hazards ahead of time to prevent damage in the future. They don’t just clear branches that have already caused problems to power lines. They evaluate all near branches and limbs and attempt to clear them before they cause damage.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Rochester area community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
