DTE Energy remains focused on building a stronger grid of the future. The work involved brought us recently to Livonia, at the corner of Pollyanna Street and Farmington Road, where crews are making key improvements to the grid in this area.

Over 100 poles are now being installed between Newburgh Road and Farmington Road. Specifically, at this location, crews were updating the pole top equipment to a newly installed pole here. Our crews are planning to make similar upgrades to several other poles in the area. These upgrades and others made throughout the neighborhood are going to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electric service. This will boost the performance of the overall grid here, especially during extreme weather situations.

Strengthening our infrastructure is key to minimizing outages and bolstering grid resilience. By investing in cutting-edge technologies, we can effectively meet future energy demands and ensure reliable, seamless service for our customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
