DTE Energy is building a stronger grid; our crews are out every day looking for electric equipment that needs an upgrade.
These upgrades vary from the installation of brand-new poles, transformers, or even trees that need to be trimmed. At the corner of Superior Road and Riverwood Drive in Superior Township, our crews identified power poles that needed upgrades. Specifically, this location needs new cutouts, and the crew is also taking out the slack of the wire to reduce the risk of any potential outage. Many locations across the area are receiving similar pole top upgrades such as this. This will result in fewer and shorter outages for our customers in the area. The performance of the grid will be greatly improved and noticeable in extreme weather situations.
These infrastructure upgrades are vital for reducing outages and strengthening the grid’s resilience and reliability. By upgrading our equipment, DTE is bolstering the current system while preparing for future energy needs. Our commitment to these improvements ensures that customers will continue to receive the reliable service they depend on.
DTE is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
