DTE Energy is committed to building a stronger grid. There are many ways we are planning to accomplish this goal. Anything from upgrading a single power pole, to completely rebuilding the infrastructure of a city. All of these things work together to help build a stronger, more durable grid.

This work brought us recently to the corner of Walnut Lake Road and Middlebelt Road in West Bloomfield, where our crews were upgrading the service at the pole here. These types of isolated upgrades are crucial in our mission of creating a stronger grid. Customers can expect to see an increase in performance in areas where these upgrades take place, especially during extreme weather situations.

Modernizing our infrastructure is crucial for minimizing outages and enhancing grid resilience. Through strategic investments in advanced technologies, we can effectively meet future energy demands and provide our customers with reliable, uninterrupted service.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
