DTE Energy is dedicated to building a stronger grid. We are making this happen, in part, by identifying portions of our current infrastructure to upgrade or rebuild.
This brings us to the intersection of Beck Road and Ecorse Road in Van Buren Township, where an example of these upgrades is taking place. At this location, new pole top switches are being installed atop these brand new poles that have been recently put in. This work is part of a bigger project in the area where over 200 poles are being serviced, with 79 of those being brand new pole replacements. Along with the switches and poles, new cross arms, transformers, connectors will also be installed to round out the project. These upgrades will provide the area with much improved performance, especially during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
