We are accelerating our work to build the electric grid of the future – one that is smarter, stronger and more resilient. As part of this work, we inspected and made upgrades along more than 850 miles of electric lines in 2024 and are continuing to inspect and upgrade overhead poles throughout 2025.
New, modern pole-top equipment is made of stronger materials, experiences less deterioration from the elements and can better withstand increasingly extreme storms. When you see crews in your community, they are replacing significant portions of our distribution system; everything from poles and crossarms to power lines and transformers.
Ramping up work to upgrade our existing infrastructure will make the grid more reliable, improve safety and increase storm resiliency. The work will result in fewer outages and shorter outage durations, providing you with the reliability you need and deserve.

Inspecting and upgrading existing infrastructure is just one part of our work to build the grid of the future. We’re also installing smart devices, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming or removing trees near overhead wires.
