You may have recently noticed orange “workers ahead” signs accompanied by tree trim work trucks in your Oak Park neighborhood. Our team was on the corner of Oak Park Boulevard and Church Street, clearing off limbs that have grown dangerously close to our overhead power lines. This work will help prevent future power outages due to extreme weather conditions.
In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms. Highlights include:
- Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
- Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
- Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone
If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
