Tree trim crews were back out in West Bloomfield this week as we dispatched crews to the Bloomfield Knolls neighborhood. Arborists worked near the corner of Greer and Lochaven, removing overgrown branches off DTE primary lines. Work like this improves reliability for customers when extreme weather strikes as tree trimming has been proven to be the most cost-effective and expedient way to strengthen the system.
All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.
Highlights include:
- Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
- Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
- Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone
