As we continue to place a heavy emphasis on tree trimming across Oakland County, this week we dispatched crews to the Tripps Middle Straits neighborhood. Arborists worked near the corner of Union Lake Rd. and Gitzen Ave. removing overgrown branches off DTE primary lines. When extreme weather strikes, work like this greatly strengthens our system, as tree trimming has been proven to be the most cost-effective and quickest way to strengthen the system.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
