Another day means another opportunity to trim trees that may interfere with DTE lines during extreme weather. Our team was dispatched to West Detroit, near Rutland and Lyndon Streets, to perform this important job. They safely and carefully sawed tree limbs away from overhead lines, reducing the probability of power outages the next time extreme weather occurs.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
