Tree trimmers are continuing the ongoing effort of removing branches that have grown dangerously close to a circuit that powers Oak Park. Recently, our team performed this work in the backyard of a home in Huntington Woods, near Ludlow Avenue and Scotia Road. This work will improve reliability for Oak Park residents, as well as residents of surrounding communities.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to help prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
