Tree trimming crews worked in the backyard of an Oak Park home, near Dante Street and Northfield Boulevard, to improve the neighborhood’s power reliability during future storms. Our team is pictured above cleaning up tree debris after removing branches that have grown dangerously close to overhead power lines. The work of these tree trimmers will help keep power safely and reliably flowing for years to come.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
