DTE Energy is dedicated to building a stronger grid. We are making important upgrades to our infrastructure across the many communities we serve.
Before these upgrades can begin, our crews must first identify equipment in the field that is in need of being replaced.
This is what brought our crews to the intersection of Drake Road and Hampstead Boulevard in Farmington Hills. They were performing a cable test to see if the cable was operating at the highest level that it could. If the results come back negative, the crews would then go through the process of replacing the cable.
When cables are replaced, the new cables are stronger and more durable. By doing tests like this, we can continue to provide upgrades that lead to the better reliability our customers deserve.
With these upgrades, the performance of the local grid will improve, especially during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
