DTE Energy is laser focused on our plan to build a stronger, more reliable grid. Our crews are out in the field every day looking for ways to upgrade our current infrastructure. They travel across the many communities we serve, looking for places where we can provide upgrades to our equipment.
An example of this work is occurring in Royal Oak at the corner of Mandalay Avenue and Massoit Road, where our crews are performing a cable test to check the integrity of the electrical cable in the area. If needed, our crews will plan to install a new cable to replace the current equipment with a newer, more durable cable. This is crucial in our pursuit to create a stronger grid. Customers in the area will see an increase in performance, specifically during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing our infrastructure is crucial for minimizing outages and strengthening grid resilience. Through strategic investments in advanced technologies, we can effectively meet future energy needs and ensure dependable, uninterrupted service for our customers.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
