Every summer, our company hosts 80-90 students in our Summer Youth Internship Program. Many of these students are just out of high school and live in Detroit. We go beyond a normal internship and provide students with a variety of ways to help them in their future. We teach interview and resume skills, financial literacy, and skills they can take to their future careers. We also provide mentorship to guide them during their summer with DTE.
We are proud to announce that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation named DTE Energy a finalist for this year’s Citizens Awards, a long-standing program that honors purpose-driven businesses for their leadership in solving the world’s biggest challenges. We were nominated for our Summer Youth Internship Program for our efforts to provide a transformational employment experience for people who have barriers to employment, with a focus on Detroit.
For 22 years, the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Citizens Awards have recognized the most innovative and impactful corporate citizenship initiatives raising the bar on social responsibility. This year’s finalists have developed innovative solutions to the challenges our country faces and continue to accelerate momentum for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
