Dependable power is the foundation of a strong and prosperous community, and in Brighton, DTE Energy is making investments in the city’s future through targeted infrastructure upgrades and long-term planning.

“Reliable energy is essential for Brighton’s growth and quality of life,” said Kristoffer Tobbe, mayor of Brighton. “DTE’s partnership and investment in our community is strengthening our infrastructure, reducing outages and ensuring that our residents and businesses have the dependable power they need now and in the future.”

The investments DTE made to build a stronger electric grid, coupled with less extreme weather last year, led to a nearly 74% improvement in Brighton’s electric reliability between 2023 and 2024. In addition to strengthening the grid, trimming trees played a large role in the reliability improvements for the Brighton area.

Over the past five years, DTE has trimmed more than 140 miles of trees growing along the power lines that serve Brighton. Fallen tree limbs and branches account for nearly half the time DTE customers are without power, and these outages can be prevented by keeping trees clear of poles and wires.
