Q: Tell us about your volunteer service in 2020?
A: DTE IMPACT (Individuals Making Positive Action for Communities Together) Program at Cody High School and 2020 First Robotics Competition
Q: Why do you volunteer?
A: I have always desired to support our youths in preparing for entering into the workforce and developing life skills. DTE has provided me with the education and career opportunities to best prepare me for this initiative.
Q: Is there a memorable experience that you can share about your volunteer service?
A: The most memorable experience for me was the students reaction to the educational training on Finance i.e. income, housing, taxes, etc. The student’s ears seem to perk up and they began to ask questions relating to their pay from the program to the lessons being discussed. In addition to this fulfilling one of desires, I also had the benefit of learning from others. Thank you DTE for allowing me to participate in this program.
Q: What would you say to other retirees who are thinking about volunteering?
A: I would encourage them to get involved. It is not only self-rewarding, it is helping others, as well.
