DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
As a part of our work to build a stronger grid, our crews have been busy executing upgrades to several locations in Garden City. Specifically, on the corner of Garden Avenue and Rush Street, our crews were installing important upgrades. The primary focus of the work here is for our crews to identify poles that have equipment in need of replacement. The poles being serviced are receiving new cross arms and connectors.
These upgrades will strengthen the area’s infrastructure, aiming to reduce outages. By improving the performance of our equipment, these enhancements will be especially noticeable during extreme weather conditions.
Infrastructure improvements are essential to our goal of minimizing outages while bolstering the grid’s resilience and reliability. By modernizing our equipment, DTE is reinforcing the current system and preparing to meet the growing electricity needs of the future.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
