Image of cutout and fuses.

Both overhead and underground crews worked in Bloomfield Hills earlier this week to replace a damaged cutout and fuse on a pole in the Billingsgate Ct. neighborhood. The old cutout and fuse had cracked and were replaced with new equipment. Cutouts are critical pieces of equipment as they protect transformers from power surges and overloads.

The teams worked together as the underground crew isolated the main transformer, which enabled the overhead crew to be able to safely replace the parts. Luckily, de-energizing the system was not needed so no surrounding residents were impacted by outages or intentional interruptions to their service.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.
