Recently, 15 DTE Energy team members volunteered at the Maybury Farm in Oakland County helping to beautify the grounds. Maybury Farm is a working farm with a mission to connect the community to animals and agriculture through hands-on experiences that are both engaging and educational.
Throughout the day, the DTE team cleaned up weeds on the 85-acre property, hung signage and assisted with various, small maintenance projects.
“Volunteering is great because we are helping to improve the lives of others and their businesses, we are learning new skills at the multitude of events we partake in throughout the year and it helps us to develop close relationships amongst the community and our co-workers,” said Jessica Winn, project administrator with DTE.
The team completed the property beautification work just in time for the Children’s Camp that kicked off the following day.
Because of the time spent volunteering, Maybury Farm was approved for a DTE McCarthy grant to help further its mission in the community.
