The DTE Foundation, in partnership with Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan, unveiled a newly redesigned immersive learning installation at the JA Finance Park, located at Junior Achievement’s Southeast Headquarters in Detroit.
The “Energy MVP – From Rookie to Legend” exhibit offers a dynamic experience highlighting careers in renewable energy, skilled trades, engineering and emerging technologies. Through hands-on simulations and real-world scenarios, students will explore pathways to high-paying, purpose-driven careers that power Michigan’s future.
“This installation reflects our commitment to preparing the next generation for the energy careers of tomorrow,” said Rodney Cole, president, DTE Foundation. “By partnering with Junior Achievement, we’re helping students connect their education to real opportunities in the energy industry, whether that’s in electric vehicle infrastructure, solar technology, or skilled trades.”
Teams across DTE donated equipment and tools to the hands-on learning installation.
The Energy MVP exhibit, estimated to engage thousands of students annually, came to life through employee donations. Capital Projects Manager, Lare Blum, donated several items, including personal keepsakes from his first engineering roles at Fermi 2 and Monroe Power Plant.
“I’ve had a great career as an engineer at DTE. I enjoy the work, and I’m surrounded by colleagues who really care about serving our customers and communities. By sharing my tools of the trade to be part of the Energy MVP learning installation, I believe we’ll inspire Michigan’s next generation of energy professionals.”
The JA Finance Park, housed within Junior Achievement of Southeast Michigan, features hands-on installations from many metro-Detroit-based industries.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the DTE Foundation on this transformative exhibit,” said Jason Lee, president and CEO, Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan. “This partnership brings energy careers to life in a way that’s both educational and inspiring, helping students envision their role in building a sustainable future and aligning with the mission at Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan.”
The DTE design and multimedia teams dedicated extra time and energy to create the hands-on learning exhibit.
“We wanted to give students a real flavor for several great energy industry career options,” said Joy Neych, supervisor, DTE Design. “So, our team designed an exhibit featuring real, hands-on examples of in-demand energy careers for students, combined with the technology they use daily to guide their learning experiences.”
