As part of DTE Energy’s continued effort in building a stronger grid, our crews keep patrolling the communities we serve, always looking to locate current pieces of our infrastructure that may require an upgrade.
Doing this helps us isolate any weak point in the grid and allows us to strategically make upgrades that provide the biggest impact. This brought our crews to Troy, specifically at the corner of Three Lakes Drive and Crescent Way Drive. At this location, our crews were installing a new underground transformer to provide more reliable service to our customers in the area. With upgrades like this happening all over, our customers can expect to see an increase in performance, especially during extreme weather situations.
Upgrading infrastructure is crucial for reducing outages and strengthening grid resilience. By modernizing equipment, DTE is preparing the energy system to meet future demands, providing customers with reliable and consistent service.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
