DTE Energy is committed to building a stronger, more efficient grid. This initiative brings us to Fraser, specifically at the corner of Mulvey Road and Garfield Road, where our crews have recently been busy implementing infrastructure upgrades.
Along Mulvey Road, our crews have been installing brand new, steel power poles. Over a dozen new poles have recently been installed, with a few more scheduled to be completed soon. These new steel poles provide an increase in durability by being made of stronger material, as well as being taller than a standard, wooden power pole. Once all poles have been installed, customers in the area can expect a better performing grid, especially during extreme weather situations.
Strengthening our infrastructure is critical to reducing outages and improving grid resilience. By investing in advanced technologies, we are prepared to meet future energy demands and ensure reliable, consistent service for our customers.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
