DTE Energy is laser focused on building a stronger grid. One of the ways we plan to reach this goal is with the installation of new smart grid technology. At the corner of Grand River Avenue and Oakland Oaks Court in Wixom, our crews have recently installed a piece of smart grid technology called a recloser.
These play a crucial role in reducing widespread outages caused by localized equipment damage. Their rapid identification of outage locations enables swift power restoration for many customers, while our crews make necessary repairs. This approach will help us deliver safer, more reliable power to our customers, especially during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing infrastructure is essential to reducing outages and strengthening grid resilience. Through advanced technology, we are ready to meet future energy demands and deliver dependable, uninterrupted service to our customers.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Smart grid transition work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, also includes upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
