DTE Energy is laser-focused on building a stronger grid. We are doing this, in part, by identifying specific portions of our infrastructure that are due for an upgrade or full replacement.

This work brought our crews recently to the intersection of Duncan Avenue and Hilda Street in the Macomb County city of Fraser. Specifically, our crews identified a power pole that was ready for replacement, so they had a new pole ready to be installed alongside the older pole. Along with this came new cross arms, connectors, and a new transformer.

This vital upgrade will boost the reliability for our customers in the area. By performing these isolated upgrades at key points of the grid, the performance of our infrastructure as a whole will be improved. Customers can expect to see better performance, especially during extreme weather situations.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
