DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
As we continue to work towards building that stronger grid, our crews were recently working at the corner of Packard Road and Stone School Street in Ann Arbor. They were installing a new power pole and the accompanying pole-top equipment, such as more durable cross arms and connectors. These upgrades will provide increased reliability in the area as we continue to install more new equipment. Upgrading significant portions of the grid will also improve overall performance, especially during extreme weather situations.
These infrastructure upgrades are essential for achieving our goal of reducing outages. It is a crucial component of our strategy to build a stronger and more reliable grid. DTE will continue these efforts, not only to enhance reliability but also to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the coming years.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
