DTE Energy is working to build a stronger grid. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029. There are many ways in which we are getting closer to that goal, including upgrading our current infrastructure.
An example of this work happened recently in Keego Harbor, at the intersection of Cass Lake Front Road and Glenbroke Street. Here, our crews were installing four new poles, along with accompanying pole top equipment, to better prepare for growing electric demand in this area. Upgrades like these are happening across the entirety of our service area. Customers can expect a better performing grid, especially during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing infrastructure is crucial to reducing outages and boosting grid resilience and reliability. By modernizing equipment, DTE is reinforcing the system to meet future energy needs. Our commitment to these upgrades ensures that customers continue to receive the dependable service they rely on.
Upgrading is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
