DTE Energy is hard at work and continuing to build a stronger grid. One way we accomplish this is by making key upgrades to our infrastructure and by identifying where more upgrades are needed. This can be providing one or two new power poles in an area or upgrading an entire neighborhood’s equipment.
In Ann Arbor, specifically at the corner of Haisley Road and Maple Road, our crews continue a bigger project to bring new and more modern electric equipment to this neighborhood. Several poles are being serviced in the area, with some being brand new pole installations, cross arms, connectors, and new transformers. Together, these upgrades will greatly improve the reliability of the grid in the area. Once the project is finished, customers here can expect to see an increase in electrical performance overall, especially during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and strengthening grid resilience. DTE is upgrading to modern equipment to meet future energy demands, providing customers with reliable and consistent service.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
