DTE Energy is focused on building a stronger grid for our customers. A portion of the work being done to accomplish this goal involves crews going out into the field and inspecting key areas that might need upgrading.

This work was happening recently in Ypsilanti, specifically at the corner of Clark Road and Golfside Road, where it was determined that underground equipment in the area was in need of an upgrade. This included installing all new cables to replace the older cable that was previously there. This new cable is much more dependable and provides better service for our customers in the area. The better performing equipment will be noticeably better during extreme weather situations.

Upgrading infrastructure is vital for reducing outages and enhancing grid resilience. DTE is investing in modern equipment to meet future energy needs, ensuring reliable and consistent service for its customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
