As our work towards building a stronger grid continues, our crews were recently dispatched in Waterford Township to execute some upgrades. At the corner of Scott Lake Road and Dixie Highway, crews have installed brand new pole top gear to this power pole. Specifically, new connectors were installed. These new connectors are much more durable, which will heavily reduce the chance of an outage in the area.
Upgrades like these are happening all over the area as our crews will find locations and determine if the equipment there is up to our standards. Customers in the area can expect to see improved performance from the equipment, especially during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
