This summer was very different for our summer interns — in addition to learning about their field, the company, and the industry, they also learned about connecting with others in business through a virtual environment. To encourage students to learn more about the industry and share what they’ve learned, this summer, both DTE and the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) launched student video challenges.

We’re proud to announce that one of our student co-ops, Diana Bonna, won both the CEWD and DTE challenge!

Diana, an Information Systems student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, says she participates in all that she can while at school. “This contest provided me an opportunity to express my journey as DTE co-op and highlight all that I have achieved, which will show me the path of my future endeavors.”

Diana, who’s worked in Customer Strategy for over a yearsays that she has learned so much during her time as a co-op with DTE. In my time at DTE, I‘ve incorporated various tools and technologies into principal business operations and closely worked with core customer strategy team to assess and optimize various performance metrics. It gives me enormous authority and confidence to grow as a highly qualified professional.

The video challenge asked students to tell us what they’ve learned during their internships, what great jobs are in the energy industry and how they can give back to their communities as a part of the industry. Congratulations on your winning video, Diana!

Our students faced many challenges this year, as we moved to a virtual internship program. We applaud our students who took on the video challenge and created videos that explored their world at DTE. We’ve compiled our student videos into one to show the variety of careers and jobs they’ve learned about. Kudos to these students and thank you for sharing!

DTE offers employment programs to high school and college students in Detroit and across Michigan, who can gain meaningful experience in Engineering, IT, Customer Service, Gas, Skilled Trades, Renewables, and many different business units across the company.
