DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

As we continue to build a stronger grid, our crew have been busy recently in Commerce Charter Township, performing some crucial updates in this residential area.

At the corner of Kratage Court and Kratage Avenue, they have identified a piece of equipment that was in need of an upgrade. Specifically, at this location, a new transformer was deemed not up to our standards, so our crews have since installed a brand-new transformer that will ensure energy supply in the area will be more stable moving forward.

Our front-line crews have been busy identifying other equipment that needs upgrades across our service areas. This is to ensure that we are providing our customers with the most reliable service we can. Upgrades like the one carried out recently will result in better performance from our grid, especially during extreme weather situations.

These infrastructure upgrades are crucial for achieving our aim of minimizing outages and boosting the grid’s resilience and reliability. By updating our equipment, DTE is fortifying the existing system and gearing up for the increasing electricity demands of the future.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
