As DTE Energy continues to build a stronger grid, we have been busy executing infrastructure upgrades. This includes recent work in Howell, at the intersection of Homestead Drive and Rose Creek Lane. At this location, our crews installed three new poles, cross arms and two new transformers to help strengthen the grid in the area. Demand for electric services in the area is growing and with these new upgrades, our customers will get more reliable service, even in extreme weather conditions.
Upgrading infrastructure is essential for reducing outages and strengthening the grid’s resilience and reliability. Through modernizing equipment, DTE is fortifying the system to meet future energy demands.
Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage duration time in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
