As DTE Energy continues efforts to build a stronger grid, our crews have been busy recently, working on grid improvements in Troy.

Specifically, at the corner of Eckford Drive and Rochester Road, crews installed a brand-new power pole along with the accompanying pole top equipment. This will ensure that this pole will be up to DTE standards and provide strong and consistent service to customers in the area. Along with the pole top upgrades, DTE has also ordered the installation of a brand-new transformer, to be better prepared for the increased demand in the area.

These new upgrades will work in tandem with other equipment in the area to provide a better experience for our customers. The performance of the grid in the area will be improved, especially during extreme weather.

Infrastructure upgrades, like these in Troy, are essential for reducing outages and improving the grid’s resilience and reliability.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
