That’s why we’re safely continuing work to retire over 200 miles of legacy gas lines , move over 14,000 interior gas meters outside and conduct more than 300,000 natural gas meter safety inspections. We’re also proactively inspecting for gas leaks. Surveyors from DTE and our contractor URG walk neighborhoods to check for gas leaks and inspect each individual natural gas meter – every home, every school, every church, and every business!
All of this helps ensure that families and businesses have reliable – and safe – natural gas throughout the year. And during COVID-19, we’ve implemented additional protective measure to ensure the safety of everyone while providing reliable service:
- If we have to visit your home, employees will be wearing masks and gloves.
- We will maintain social distancing, and we ask that you do as well! Please keep at least 6 feet of social distance at all times.
- Please let our Customer Service representative and your technician know if you or someone in your home has been ill. We will take additional precautions for everyone’s safety.
