We are investing heavily in our infrastructure to ensure our grid can support the increasing energy needs of our customers. DTE’s four-point plan aims to accomplish this by rebuilding older sections of the grid, accelerating our transition to a smart grid, updating our existing infrastructure and trimming trees.

In Eastpointe, our crews recently updated infrastructure and trimmed trees when a transformer was installed to handle the increased demand coming from a circuit. To install the transformer, tree trimming crews first removed branches that were making their way on to surrounding power lines. Afterwards, overhead crews safely installed the transformer adding additional power capacity to a residential area of Eastpointe.

Improvements like this are essential for our grid to withstand extreme weather and safely provide reliable energy for our customers. You can learn more about this project and our four-point plan at empoweringmichigan.com/reliability-improvements.
