DTE Energy is laser focused on building the grid of the future — a plan which includes accelerating our transition to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.

In Royal Oak, just off Coolidge Highway, DTE overhead crews recently worked a quiet stretch of Chester Road to ensure reliable power would remain available to area residents and businesses.

At that location, a new pole now stands near an old pole, weathered and worn and soon to be removed. Crews also installed modern fiberglass cross arms on top of this pole, which can better withstand rot and extreme weather conditions.

Additionally, this upgrade will support a new transformer that will soon be installed.
