DTE’s voluntary MIGreenPower program helps both households and businesses meet sustainability goals by attributing their energy use to Michigan-made renewable energy.

That appealed to Ali Sayed, who founded nonprofit HYPE Athletics in 2001 to create positive experiences for youth through community sports.Ali Sayed coaching basketball

Ali recently enrolled HYPE’s three Wayne County locations in DTE’s MIGreenPower program, which enables the organization to attribute a portion of their energy use to Michigan’s wind and solar parks while supporting future renewable energy developments.

Ali points to MIGreenPower’s flexible, low-cost options as a big draw for HYPE. “It only costs a dollar or two a month, so it’s a no-brainer,” Ali says. “As a non-profit organization, it’s our responsibility to use that money wisely. MIGreenPower helps us achieve that.”
